AVAR (Caucasus-Dagestan), late 19th century An abrasive marine field, highlighted with tulips, is home to a rich brick floral composition, formed of plant interlacing with two "bulbs", decorated with large "pistils" with bluish hearts. The two flowers are separated by two entomological brick shapes. The main ivory border is a series of stylised cruciform and crenellated flowers, segmented with dark arrowheads in opposition. It is flanked by two counterborders with geometric garlands; all in beautiful polychrome. Provenance and decoration, rare. 200 x 138cm.
